Locations
Why some tools ask which location, and when they stop asking.
A company has one or more locations — the places it operates from — and much of what it owns belongs to one of them. Customers, products, orders and appointments are per-location; employees, domains and the ledger are company-wide.
Tools that need a location take locationId. You can leave it out:
- One location: it is resolved for you, and the result says which one it used.
- Several: the tool answers with the list of locations and their ids, so the assistant can ask you or pick — rather than guessing, or failing with a bare error.
- No
locations:readscope:locationIdbecomes required, since there is no way to look one up.
list_locations is the tool to reach for first if any of that is unclear.
