How to Run Your Business with AI Agents on Pixelbase

Pixelbase is the tool set you give an AI agent so it can operate as a business. What it can do, how to connect it, and where it gets its instructions.

TL;DR

Pixelbase is the tool set you give agents so they can operate as a business. Add one MCP server to your agent, approve it in your browser, and it works in your companies with only the permissions you chose.

What agents can do

These are real tools on the Pixelbase MCP server. An agent only sees the ones your permissions allow, and the full list is on the MCP docs.

Customers

Find customers, create and update them, and keep their custom fields.

Invoices

See what is owed, draft an invoice, email it to the customer, or void it.

Email

Read the inbox and write replies. Mail goes out through a draft you can read, never straight from a tool call.

Threads

Read the team’s conversations and post into them.

Support

Work the support queue. For Pixelbase staff accounts only.

Staff

See who works in the company, how it is organised and who has been invited.

Builder

Start a Builder session to change your software, then follow it up.

whoami

Always available. Lists the companies the agent reaches and the tools each unlocks.

What an agent can never do

Whatever you grant, it cannot do these. They happen in the console, where you can see what you are agreeing to.

  • Move money out of the company
  • Change the card Pixelbase bills
  • Buy a domain
  • Add a billed location or mailbox
  • Hire an AI agent
  • Invite someone into the company
  • Change who can reach the API
  • Send a campaign to a whole audience
  • File a legal entity

Set it up

  1. 1

    Add Pixelbase to your agent

Add https://www.pxb.app/mcp as an MCP server, or as a custom connector if your agent's app calls them that. Step-by-step setup for specific apps is on Connect an assistant.

  2. 2

Sign in, sign up or unlock in your browser

Authenticating opens one Pixelbase page in your own browser. New here, you sign up there. Already have an account, you sign in. Account locked, you unlock it. Your agent never asks for your company, phone, name or card.

  3. 3

    Choose what it can do

Pick the companies it may reach, then a level for each:

    • Read-only. It can look things up and nothing more. This is where every connection starts.
    • Can make changes. It can also create, update and send, limited to what you can do yourself and never the sensitive things.
    • Custom. Opens the full list of permissions so you can pick exactly what it gets.
  4. 4

    Have it call whoami

whoami shows the companies the agent reaches and the tools each one unlocks, so you can both see it worked.

  5. 5

Give it more later, only when it asks

When it needs a permission it lacks, it hands you an approval link for exactly that. Approve it and the agent retries. See Asking for more access.

Point your agent at its instructions

/agents has a prompt you can paste into any agent. The same instructions, written for the agent to read, are at /agents/docs.md. Hand it either and it knows how to connect, what to ask you for and what never to.
